The Auto Safety Driving Team
At Auto Safety Driving School, our team of instructors is not only highly qualified but also deeply committed to fostering safe and confident drivers. Each instructor is state-certified and brings decades of driving experience to the classroom and behind the wheel. To ensure the utmost safety and professionalism, all instructors have undergone rigorous background checks through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, including fingerprinting and a detailed review of their history.
Our fleet of vehicles is exclusively dedicated to driving lessons and never used for any other purpose. Each car is equipped with state-of-the-art GPS, dashcams, and hardwired connections to the engine block to provide a secure and reliable learning environment. With our experienced team and specialized vehicles, we’re here to give every student the tools they need for safe, confident driving.
Meet Billy, our Senior Instructor
Billy has been with Auto Safety Driving School since 2016, helping students become confident drivers and supporting parents by emphasizing the responsibilities of driving.
Originally from Charlotte, N.C., Billy grew up as the eldest of seven, learning hard work and respect from his father on their family farm. Warmer weather brought Billy and his family to Florida in 1974, where he settled in Tampa Bay and built a rewarding career in hospitality and sales.
Outside of work, Billy enjoys quality time with his wife, five children, and two grandchildren. He loves fishing, the outdoors, and sharing his passion for faith, family, and community. We’re grateful for his dedication to our students and Auto Safety Driving School!
Colleen
Colleen brings over 35 years of experience from the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, where she trained for road tests, issued licenses, and helped clear sanctions. She was also one of five people responsible for developing the department’s curriculum.
With more than 100,000 hours behind the wheel, Colleen combines her extensive knowledge and passion for teaching to help students succeed. We’re proud to have her on our team.

John
John was born into a military family originally from Texas and moved around quite a bit as a youth before his dad was stationed in Tampa, 1968. He graduated from Jefferson High School ‘way back when’. He’s a father of three and a grandfather of six. He’s a BIG Bucs fan, and also loves the Rays, the Lightning, and the Florida Gators. He’s had a number of different jobs in his life, but by far the most interesting was with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles for 35 years. We are happy to have him and all his experience at Auto Safety Driving School.
Brandon
Brandon brings with him 20 years of driving experience across the country.
Brandon grew up in Wesley Chapel as the son of a forensic engineer, spending his formative years taking measurements of accident sites and cars in junkyards. He turned this childhood experience into a lifelong passion for public safety.
After spending 14 years living in Utah, Brandon returned to Florida to start a family. He is a new dad and very conscientious and attentive to detail.
He’s excited to be joining the Auto Safety Driving School team!
LaTonya
LaTonya has a wealth of driving experience starting with her decades in the world of CDL and CDL instruction (big rigs, 18-wheelers, and even school buses). She is a native of Tampa Bay born and raised in St. Pete. She is passionate about driver safety and is thrilled to be sharing her rich background with our students. She enjoys watching the Bucs on Sundays after she finishes with her church activities.
