3in3
A Florida-required program for drivers who were at fault in three crashes within a three-year period. Complete the required course hours, behind-the-wheel training, and extended road test to keep your driving privileges.
What is the 3in3 requirement?
Under Florida Statute 322.0261(1)(c), any operator convicted of, or who pleaded nolo contendere to, a traffic offense that gave rise to a crash must attend a department-approved driver improvement course to keep their driving privileges. Drivers who were at fault in three crashes within a three-year time period are required to do all of the following.
Failure to complete these requirements within 90 days of the conviction will result in a license cancellation. Additional crashes will bring more requirements and penalties.
What you have to do
1. Complete a 12-hour Advanced Driver Improvement course
A FLHSMV-approved Advanced Driver Improvement (ADI) course. The 12 hours cover crash causes, defensive driving, and how to avoid the habits that lead to repeat crashes.
2. Complete 4 hours of behind-the-wheel training
Four hours of behind-the-wheel training from a FLHSMV-approved, Florida-licensed commercial driving school (CDS). Our Tampa instructors are state-licensed and come to you for free door-to-door pickup.
3. Pass an extended road test
An extended road test with a driver license examiner or tax collector licensing agent. The test is longer than the standard exam and checks for the safe-driving habits the course is meant to build.
All three requirements must be finished within 90 days of the conviction date. Miss the deadline and your license is cancelled. We help you schedule each step so you finish on time.
